Question What signs to look for if noid is getting too much light?

I've definitely been bitten my the orchid bug. My colletion has grown from a single Phal "noid" to 5! Four of them are Phals, one of them is a Paph.

My question, I have recently moved them from one location to another within my house. They were overwhelming my kitchen counter, and I wanted to have them in my studio so I could enjoy looking at them more often.

They were moved from a west facing large window, which only gets direct sun for a few hours in the afternoon to a huge south facing wall skylight, which is over the window seat they are now residing in. They get a fair amount of direct light in the morning into the early afternoon.

Everyone appears happy, but I'm curious, how do I know if they are getting too much light? What are the signs that my plants aren't happy with the new location?

I have noticed a slight lighter color in the green of the leaves and one of them has a split in the center of the leaf. I don't want to kill them from my lack of knowledge. I will try to post a pic later today.

Hi there, both paphs and phals don't usually enjoy direct sunlight at all. You'll notice leaves going really light coloured or scorching. If they go yellow they're really getting too much!

If it's just "high" light without overwhelming the plant, you might see a bit of a reddish tinge to the leaves - this is like plant sunscreen!

As you go towards summer the light will probably get more and more intense in that window? You may need to move them or shade them a little.

Feel the leaves. If they're warm to the touch, move the plant back an inch or so. (Light drops dramatically for every inch away from the source). Keep feeling the leaves, and keep moving the plant back until you get it right. You may find that you might be able to even move the plant closer.
