Rescued a sad looking Cymbidium Orchid from a friend. Male
Default

I was able to get it out of the pot but the rootball was soo tightly wrapped around itself there was litterally no medium in the middle! Because it was so tightly wrapped I couldnt loosed the roots to let in any new medium. I was able to put new medium around the rootball though. Should I cut some of the good roots off the bottom of the ball to try to loosen those inside up? I read somewhere that when repotting u should cut back to where the plant only has about 6 inches of root left. Is this true? I cut away all the dead roots that I could see but am scared to really touch the healthy tightly wrapped roots.

Thanks in advance!

P.S.

I had to type this on my phone so I apologize for any typos.
