Just after I took my Cymbidium out of its pot, clean and cut roots out .... I realize I have next to nothing potting mix left! Even with the rocks i put at the bottom of the pot, I dont even have enough to cover half way the roots that are already trimmed out!
My order wont come in until next week, Friday the 11th.
Anything I can do to keep my Cymbidium alive intil new mix arrives?
I don't really know, but I think what I would do is water it, then wrap the base in newspaper. I think that's what they do when plants are shipped bare root.
I just put the little potting mix in a grocery plastic back and put the roots in the bag and most of the roots have potting mix all around. poked holes in the plastic bag.
Think this might do for about 1 week and a half until my potting mix gets in?
It sounds like it should work, at least for a week. Very often for brief periods they throw bare rooted orchids into clay pots and just spray the roots.
