Default Jumellea comorensis . . . HELP !

I have (2) Jumellea comorensis plants, both potted. I can't seem to find a whole lot of information on these orchids....

My problem is no matter what I do, they react negatively. The leaves are turning yellow with blotches of green/black/yellow .... so I don't know if they are getting too much light, or too much water, or not enough water or not enough light.....

No matter what I do, the leaves keep turning yellow. I had them under lights, than moved them to more Shade, and still the leaves are reacting. I water them, let them dry out a little, and still have the same problem ...

Does anyone know anything about the culture requirements for these Jumellea ??? The information contained in the book "Angraecoid Orchids" is very vague .

Mine is doing well though growing slowly mounted on a piece of cork with a good-sized wad of sphag. I try to water at least 3-4 times per week but a lot of the time I only get to it once and it doesn't seem to mind much. It gets medium light, kind of on the bright end of what a Phal would like, though I've been told they actually do well in lower light than that.

I had some of the spotting and leaf-drop problems at first, I think it happened when I left the foliage wet. I would suggest increasing air movement around the plant, switching to bottom-watering for a while, or both.

Some of the nicest ones I've seen were in wood baskets with sphag, kept in the shadier section of a greenhouse (which could still be pretty bright compared to a windowsill). The high moisture from the sphag coupled with the airiness afforded by the basket seemed to please the plants a lot. I've recently been considering unmounting mine and putting it in a basket to see if it will grow any faster and finally bloom!

Anyway, just my . I'm pretty much a total novice with Angs, maybe someone else who knows more will weigh in...

Default Re: Jumellea comorensis . . .

Thanks so much for the insight.
I honestly don't know what to do with these 2 plants.
they are potted, in 2-inch pots....I water them, and never get the leaves wet...they are growing new roots,
but the leaves are a problem.

The light I give them is 1500fc of light......and that apparently was too much, so I moved them to an even shadier place.....and still leaf by leaf turned yellow....
I have a Fan going, plus a Humidifier......

I'm totally dumbfounded .... since I grow so many Aerangis/Angraecum, I know what the light levels should be and they all get minimum of 1500fc and a maximum of 2500fc.....
