Default Whos going to join their local OS?

I think I'm going to join my local Orchid society. I need some orchid friends.
My friends just aren't interested.

Just a warning to fotofashion lol

I don't know If I really want anyone knowing me the way I act sometimes. I'm only embarrassing to myself mostly.

So who all is going to join their local society?

I been hesitant to do this bec I work nights and don't do well around people in the day when I should be trying to sleep. Also, meetings are all on Thursday nights, I have to work Thursdays.

I can make a few shows a year and meet some new people. Attend orchid classes and lectures on occasion. Really not a bad deal for the price of what equates to 1 orchid. Think of all the orchids it will save.

I just need a little kick on occasion.

So lets all pay our membership up here and go join our local orchid society while the year is still young!!

Joining my "local" orchid society (EPOS) was about the first thing I did when I decided the orchid "bug" had bitten hard in January - but it's over 130km away (like just under 100 miles for you non-metric folk) - meetings are also on Thursday nights, but just late enough that I can make it there after work.

I've been twice now (i.e. to every meeting since I joined), and an orchid society seems like a pretty ideal thing to join. Do it, and make the effort to attend meetings and so on.

I would love to join my local OS, but language is a huge barrier since I don't speak/understand Dutch very well. Many Dutch speak English except for the not-so-young-anymore crowd, which happens to make up a large part of the OS. Gives me extra incentive to improve my Dutch! I do go to their orchid shows though.

I joined my local orchid society a couple years ago. I enjoy it and I get a lot of good information from the speakers. I attended meetings for over a year before I spent the money to join. I would encourage you to go to a couple meetings to see if it works for you.

Do should do it RJ! Joined my local os about 6 months ago. It is hard for me to go because of the time and my work schedule - but when I do go, it's great. I learn a lot and the people are great.

Hope that its a great experience for you.

I think I will join my local orchid society (SOOS), the people there seem really nice and you can never have enough orchids or orchid friends.
