New orchid in collection but what do the flowers look like?
Default New orchid in collection but what do the flowers look like?

Hi everyone. I was wondering if anyone can help. I ordered some Phals online from Hawaii and they came today. They are small and are only in 2" pots. Of course they have no flowers but 2 of them came with sticks in them and I can't find anything online to show me what the flowers might look like. I figured some of you advanced orchid growers out there might be able to help. Here is what the sticks said

Dtps Hsinying Paiabe 'Morre'
Jewely Night 'Face Off'

On the second orchid it reads

Phal. Baby Hat
x Phal. Sogo Lit-Angel

Any ideas?? That second one even though its so small already has a small spike. That first one though I wont be surprised if it doesn't do to well, the roots don't look that good, the ends are dark and mushy.

Mushy roots...

Sounds bad.

You might want to do a search on the OB for Phal growing advice, there's plenty to choose from. Take your pick, there's no shortage of info.

As for what the flowers look like, you can probably find something on Google Images.

Although I will hazard a guess that one of your plants is actually spelled:

Dtps Hsinying Palabe '...'

I don't know what the correct cultivar name really is.

You spelled it with an "i", that's supposed to be a "L" not an "I".

The pic to the last plant on your list is in this link:

Hi there.

Phal. Baby Hat x Sogo Lit-Angel = Phal. Angel's Hat (that's it's registered name)

The Sogo Lit-Angel is an orange art shade. Can't find a picture of Baby Hat. Based on the species that make it up I'm going to guess it's a white or pink.

Phal. Hsinying Palabe x Jewely Night is an unregistered cross. Hsinying Palabe is most likely a white, and Jewely Night has a blush pink parent.

Be sure and post pictures when Angel's Hat blooms!
