Simply put, they're 2 different breeds.
They're both Phalaenopsis, but 2 different complex man-made hybrids with totally different heritages.
The smaller one looks like it has a heavier Phal amboinensis or Phal venosa influence in its genetic line.
The larger one looks like it has a heavier Phal aphrodite or Phal amabilis influence in its genetic line.
Phal amabilis, Phal amboinensis, Phal aphrodite, Phal venosa are all Phalaenopsis species.
If these plants were not named or did not come with a name tag, they're pretty impossible to ID. There are way too many hybrids that look so similar to each other, but have different names that it's difficult to pin-point which plant is connected with which name.
They are beautiful, though.
