This growth has just appeared on my phalaeonopsis spike. Is it new flower growth? Should I cut the spike above it to help with growth or will this damage the plant? Thank you in advance to all who respond as I am a new orchid lover.

Hi there, and welcome to OB.

It's a side spike off the main one, i'd just leave the plant to grow and not cut anything.

Hello and welcome to the OB.
I agree that the growth looks like a side spike. Leave it alone and in a couple of months you should have new flowers.

Welcome to OB!
Only cut off when stem dried & brown. Meanwhile enjoy the new flowers you will be getting on that side spike.
