Lady Tottington -> I use Listerine to wipe off the mold on my skewer. It's made of wood so the mold seems to return quite fast. I have been thinking that I'd try plastic ones in the hope that they would stay mold free and not disturb the roots!

How old is the medium? It can be breaking down and going sour. Check the roots.
