Help with numbers on orchid id tag?

This is probably a totally dumb question but what do the numbers on the id tags mean? Lately I've bought a few phals that have id's like that. Example: Phal. Picotee 41737. I get that it stands for the name or crossing but how do I know what that is? I don't really care that much what the name is but it's really been buggin' me.

Sarah, if you bought it at Meijers then it relates to the grower's ID. My contact (manager of the floral department) indicates that Cadillac Meijer gets in stock periodically then returns what doesn't sell. They buy from a grower in SW Michigan somewhere (couldn't get the specifics even though the contact is very personal ) Secret is to know someone who has inside as to when new stuff comes in.

Ross, yes I did get it from Meijer and that info is good to know. I never knew what the heck those numbers meant. But the orchid was so pretty and healthy I didn't care! It definately pays off to have connections like that. You're lucky!
