Help with Phal. stem-img_1389-1-jpg
Any advice you could give me, would be appreciated. Would I be able to lop off the top of this Phal. flower stalk, above the top keiki. I am worried it could get knocked over. No roots on the keikis yet. Many thanks.

While you can do that, many people suggest waiting until the stalk dies and dries up. The reason for this is that many phal's rebloom off of the old flower stalk. However, since you've got keiki's going on there, I am not sure if there is a different school of thought on this. You might want to wait and see what other's have to suggest before you cut the spike off.

If you just want to avoid your Phal being knocked over, you can put the pot inside a bigger, heavier (clay) pot.

Nice bunch of keikis. I would let the top stem turn brown then trim off. If you don't like looking at the bare stem then trim and put a little dab of cinnamon on the cut. Don't leave any cinnamon on the babies. As soon as the keikis get roots about 2" or so I'd pot them up.

WOW

nice job growing. I get an occasional single keiki, but a bunch! Did you use keiki pro or any other hormone, or did it just happen?

Hope the coming storm turns and you're not on the direct path, especially after all the flooding you've had. Stay safe. We on the Gulf Coast can feel your pain.

Yes Bob, I used keiki paste, on 2 nodes back in Sept. Trying like hard to keep Mumma happy with her little babies. We have had one cyclone hit the Qld. coast this a.m. around south of Cairns,(winds around 120kph) another is intensifying coming towards this part of the eastern coast (Brisbane). I don't think we need any more floods. Thanks for your kind thoughts and input.
