"please, save me!''.....I'm sure that orchid is talking to me?
Ok so I couldnt resist it, another unhealthy, price reduced orchid crying ''please, save me!'' so here it is.
I decided to try and mount it, not sure how it will go, but I will keep you posted. I mounted a phal earlier in the week, which was my first attemp ever, so I will keep you up with the progress on that one as well.
Oh yeah this one is a mimi phal not sure on much else? Could it be a den/phal?
Also please, any feedback that you have about mounting, name, cutting flowers, general care, recommendations etc. is greatly appreciated

Good luck. I love getting cheep ones to experiment with, I've tried S/H with my latest cheep ones.
It's not a Den phal. That is not a phalaenopsis at all, but a dendrobium with a very different growth habit. This is definately a Phal.

It definately IS a Phal.
It definately ISN'T a Den.
The leaves are the key. Dens don't have leaves like this, they have canes (multiple per plant) with leaves growing out of the canes.
A Den Phal is in the Dendrobium genus and the Phal indicates it's in the Phalanthe sub group of Dendrobium. It's not the same thing as a Phalaenopsis genus which is what you have.

Oh I see, thank you very much. I thought the leaves looked like a phal I am just starting to expand my collection and I am amazed by how many species there are! I thought I had pretty much wrapped my head around it, but I am only just scratching the surface! That is really exciting...but also really scary 'cos that means there are so many more to fall in love with, and Im already running out of room, unfortunately my partner does not share my love for orchids.

I love the mount you have it on. Looks like you did a great job, but it doesn't look very mini to me. Not that that matters. Enjoy and keep us updated.

I know what it's like. I was amazed, the more I found out the more I realised how much more there was, and still is, to learn. That's what makes it fun

You may find that you need to water it very often, at least in the summer, but it is easier not to over water when you grow them this way. Just be careful not to let it dry out

Thank you all! I will keep you posted on it's progress. Im thinking about putting it into a terrarium globe thing. I have been making other terrariums (which you can see here Terrariums | Nature Inspire) and I think Im ready to try it with an orchid. I'll add some pics soon!
