Leaf drop on Porroglossum! Male
Default Leaf drop on Porroglossum!

So I bought a Porroglossum dalstroemii about 2 weeks ago. It has appeared to be doing fine until this morning when I found 4 leafs had fallen off. They do not appear to be old leaves, though they were mature. There was little to no browning at the base where they fell off.

I water with distilled water at least every two days, if not every day. I also spray distilled water on it 3 times a day. I have it potted in a 2 inch pot, with sphag on the bottom and a relatively thin layer of sphag on the top, with an oncidium/seedling mixture between the layers for the roots.

My question is what could possibly cause leaf drop on this particular plant. Could it be lack of sun, not enough water/humidity? Could it be the top layer of sphag? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated before I lose this one, lol...

I don't grow this one but it sounds as though it is getting a bit too much water if it is in sphag. The temperature of the water could also be a factor, is it cold?

One person I found on another forum when searching for information mentioned that he grew his in sphag. I was concerned about the water issue as well which is why it's mostly in an oncidium mix. But I'm wondering if the sphag top layer is too heavy. I was under the impression that a layer of sphag would help to trap some humidity for the roots. I will check that this evening.

Water is room temperature and they are cool to intermediate temperature growers.
