Question regarding leaning Phaius flower stalks

Has anyone who grew Phaius' ever seen the top of the flower stalk start to lean over? what causes this in your opinion?

The one Phaius that I have which has about 3 foot stalks at the moment, two of them are leaning over in the last 6 inches of the top. I am terrified that they are going to break the stalk, and after handling them a bit to inspect for damage they appear to be top heavy due to the flower buds which have not emerged yet. I plan on staking them up, but was wondering if anyone else had any experience with this.

I did not have this problem last year with mine but I would if I thought they were in danger of breaking use a support of some kind...maybe use velcro plant tie to attach a support to the spike and a stake to support it from below as well....
