Default Need care recommendations for Paph Raisin Pie

Good Evening all!
I rescued two orchids a few days ago from a nursery that was closing. One of them is in the ID forum because I have no idea what it is... the other, I know what it is... but I don't know the best way to handle it. I found it in a dark corner of a greenhouse, among lots of empty pots... it looked like it hadn't been watered in a long time.

I have since brought it home and have been misting it and gave it a very light watering. It's label says it is a Paph. Supersuk "Eureka" AM/AOS x Paph. Raisin Pie "Hsinying") x SIB. I don't know what any of that means!

Please help me figure out how best to care for this newly acquired plant... should it be repotted? Any special requirements? I have options for either full bright sun in a south facing window, or nice bright, but indirect light (which my Phal LOVES)

Thanks for any help,
Wendy

Thank you Jonada!

It is actually in a smaller pot (about half the size) inside the big square pot. I have never repotted an orchid until today! I had to repot the other one I rescued... it had fallen out of it's pot at the nursery.

The Raisin pie has a nicely shaped flower. This one has flowered before it looks like. That growth will not flower again if it has. New growths need to get started for more blooms. Repot was good start. It will like being next to the phals.

You should see some little sprouts somewhere off the root base of the plant. Paphs put out new growths fairly rapidly and easy. If that one wasnt watered and been neglected, it might respond with some new growths and the new found home..When you water, water it till water runs thru clean and clear. The media should reflect your watering habits..If you like to water a lot, use bark. If you like to go a few more days, use sphagnum. Either is fine for them. What makes the difference is how you water them.

Misting.. you do that for yourself

You will love the paphs when you get a few to bloom for you and how easy they are to take care of in general

Good luck

All I can add to the above is the name of your hybrid. Paph. Supersuk X Paph. Raisin Pie = Paph. Hsinying Alien. It is a pretty flower. Nice find!

Your paph. makes a nice houseplant with the pretty foliage in between its blooming. Hopeful it will fill the pots with more plantlets. Set it with your phals.
Put raisin pie in the search forum at the top of the page and you should be able to find some nice pics.

Should this plant be fertilized at some point, and if so, with what? How much? How often?

Hi,
I have had this same cross for about 10 mo. now. I've been really happy with this plant so far. I have it in bark, water it twice a week (it's in a small pot and dries out pretty fast), and fertilize it every other week with Orchid Plus. Don't know if that is the best fertilizing regimine, but the plant is growing and I definately haven't overfertilized. I might up it to weekly weekly in the summer...don't know yet, still learning myself.

Anyways, here's a pic from when mine was in bloom last yr. Hope you enjoy yours.
