My little Oncidium finally bloomed!!!
I've had this little one for 3 years now. Bought it on a clearance shelf for 3 bucks after it had lost it's spike.
It's funny, just a little over a month ago I was telling my fiance that I was going to throw it away. I was tired of taking care of it, only to see lack of new growth and no blooms EVER!
The very next day, I saw a little spike climbing up! And now, flowers!
I swear the Onc. overheard, and pushed out theses tiny little flowers to make me fall in love again. Haha
So, here are a couple of pictures I took this morning. There's also lots of snow outside, so this was quite a surprise when I woke up this morning!
I have read somewhere that this one is supposed to be a very fragrant, buuuuut, not quite smelling anything. Is that something I should wait on?

Congrats! It looks like you have an Oncidium Twinkle, is that correct? I have a few of these and I love them. Give them as much light as you can (without burning them) and fertilize them weekly. That should kick up the growth and blooming. Oh, and the fragrance is strongest in early to mid afternoon. It's not a heavy scent...more like a light vanilla.

Very pretty. Some orchids have to be opened a few days to get a fragrance, others only smell for a few hours a day. Keep checking it at different times of day. Sometimes orchids are real good at eavesdropping. Enjoy!

It is a Twinkle! Also says Fragrance Fantasy on the tag. Not an expert when it comes to reading the tags or pronouncing the names. Haha.
Thanks for the tips too! All this time that I've had it, I've been feeding bi-weekly, weakly, sometimes once a month if I forget.
Both of my Oncs. are in my East window with all of my Phals right now. I shall perhaps move them West when springtime hits. Would facing West be too much?
Also, I do have an Onc. that I recently transplanted. I have three new Pseudos on it, that seem to be growing horizontally. Is that a problem, or will they straighten on their own time?
Thanks in advance

Yes, I'm very happy I didn't throw her away!
I figured that the flowers might need time to mature before being fragrant. So mid afternoon it is! I'm sure I will keep checking on it throughout the day. I'm home all day doing some "cleaning" before a trip back home!

I also have a twinkle, and yep, they are fragrant!
It is a very light scent, a lemony-vanilla, and typically I can only smell it when it is fairly warm in the room in the afternoons, and you have to get right up on it...it isn't going to fill a room with scent!
Congrats on getting it to bloom!

Congrats on the blooms I just love these!
I guess lil twinkle overheard the threats ummm? Anyways it doesn't matter, its what ever works
My white one just finished up blooming, now my yellow one is going strong. It has a nice light scent, but the white twinkle had a wonderful strong aroma for hrs & hrs thru-out the day.
They're beautiful little orchids

I absolutely love it! 2 more of the buds have opened up since this morning. The more I look at them, the more I see a little pink on the inner petals (not sure of the proper name for those...)
Thought I got a whiff of it earlier, but it turned out to be my handsoap I'll try sniffing it again tomorrow.
I've been anticipating these flowers for years! So happy they're here <3
