Personally I only grow species although my first orchid was a hybrid. I even consider most hybrids redundant only a few really ad something to the natural variation available Disregarding easiness to grow although many species are much easier to grow then people beleive.
In my case, I grow a number of tolumnia hybrids, as well as a few species tolumnia. I like the hybrids because they ARE so different than the individual species -- hybridization in tolumnia has produced fabulous color combinations and markings that just don't exist on the original species.
That said, the tolumnia species are beautiful in their own right, and I love them, as well. But I do like the variety that hybridization has provided.
