It's a Miltassia, an Oncidium intergeneric man-made hybrid (Miltonia x Brassia).

Wow! I would have been happy with just oncidium! ...I can't wait to know enough to understand the hybrids, are there specific characteristics of each that it has for you to tell what it is?

the shape of the flowers mostly - tho different inter-generics sometimes have different sized and shaped psuedobulbs - some are easier to i.d. than others, but Miltassias are pretty easy to spot

yours is a gorgeous color!

Brassia is the group of orchids known as Spider Orchids.

Here are some pics of Brassia species:

Should I do anything about those couple leaves that bent during shipping? They are just hanging there and won't stand back up

Wow! Thanks King!! I learned something new...so it seems to me that the brassia characteristic is more of the shape (the long spider leg like petals) and the miltonia characteristic is the ruffled edges of the petals and the wide lower petal (which I believe is called the lapella?)
My friends may think I'm crazy but orchids are AMAZING!!

My friends kinda get why I like them, but not really.

Occasionally I get the "gay" joke, but for the most part they lay off, 'cause they know but they like to tease anyways. Doesn't bother me.

In fact, teasing aside, they also say that it's cool and that not everyone can do it (which is true for a number of reasons - mostly relating to skill, desire, effort, patience, and perseverance; then there's that myth that orchids are difficult to grow, which scares some people who don't understand off).

nothing to be done about that - and looking at your pic, it looks like that is bract foliage on an older pbulb, probably about ready to come off pretty soon - might not have been caused by shipping ...
