Default catts from Lowes how long to bloom

I bought two catts from Lowes, a white and a pink. They both have 4 canes about 4 to 5 inches long and one has a new tiny one starting. I am wondering how long it will take these to be blooming size. I was happy and surprised that the roots look healthy on them. the one does have one wrinkled leaf, but otherwise looks fine. I have repotted in the bark in very small pots. I know I should have waited and gotten some nice blooming sized ones but needed an orchid fix!! Wish I could send a photo, but have no camera.

If these are the ones in the mesh bags, from Better-Gro it will take 2-4 years.

O.K. hope I last that long. He He! forgot to mention that one is C Hawaiian Wedding Song (white) and the other is Blc.Lake Murry Mendenhall purple. Sorry thought it was pink. And yes, they were in the mesh bags, but two sizes there. Some were very small. I got the larger ones.
thanks, Becky

By the way, dendrobiums may have "canes" for pseudobulbs, but cattleyas do not.

Te bigger ones should be a little farther along than that. I m pretty sure. The tiny ones should take a while though. I jab heard of people buying the bigger sized bag babies and then blooming shortly after.

That alright, we were all newbies once. I'm still new at this too. It's only been about 1 1/2 yes for me.

I bought one catt at lowes last year that already had a sheath ....the psudobulb+leaf average 8 inches in height. The buds blasted due to my inexperaince ...it had been on the shelf a long time very very dry and I gave too much water to fast ,plus a 250 mile drive home and change of conditions ect...

I also found a Brassavola nodosa "little stars" at the same store that had remnants of old bloom spikes...

I would say that it could be much sooner if they were fairly large....I have two that I bought as being 3 to 4 years from bloom size my first catts in fact that were supposed to be 3 to 4 years from bloom size, they surprised me by growing amazingly well ....I had no experiance with catts at all at the time and fully expected a 4 year wait. Now 1 year and 4 months later I actualy expect to see blooms this summer,I may be totaly wrong but hey thats why we do this right?

Here are pictures of the two I mentioned ....they were in 3 inch pots when I bought them....

I've had generally good luck with the larger "bag babies" from both Home Depot and Lowes.

I usually use them for "experimentation" (naturalizing, first mounts, test different media, etc) where I don't want to use somebody I've gotten to know.

Several have bloomed in the 6 month - 1 year time frame - my first Vanda (actually Ascocentrum) sent out a spike about two months after escape from the bag.

The smaller ones have NOT bloomed for me yet (going on two + years)

Oh, they are really nice. I measured the longest psudo and leaf on both and they are longer than I thought. About 9 inches. Maybe I won't have to wait so long? We will see.
