Yes I plan to change all my Cattleya / Encyclia / Barkeria to clay pots. I always have the issue with plastic that the top half of the medium is dry and the lower half is still humid. This isn't the case with clay. Plants that don't mind or even like their roots humid all the time are better of in plastic.
Interesting. Those are really superb roots. Way, way better than any orchid I have bought, that's for sure. To me that's surprising. I would have thought that the professional growers ought to produce plants with the best roots, but several of the plants I have bought look as though the roots were stepped on. I wonder why that is.
