Nutrients....do I have too many?
Default Nutrients....do I have too many?

Hello everyone! I need to learn about nutrients...

My mother got me a plethera of Dyna Grow nutrients for Christmas....(her way of saying my orchid facination is dumb and that she doesn't think I'll be able to keep any alive)

So I'm calling on the experts, help me prove my "brown thumbed" mom wrong!

In my bunch of bottles I got:
KLN rooting solution
Liquid Grow 7-9-5
Mag-Pro 2-15-4

I'm assuming I shouldn't use them all at the same time since they seem to target certain stages of the plants growth...can anyone give me the "for dummies" version of when to use these?

THANKS!!!

Also, if I don't use all the water/nutrient solution in one day is it okay to save it for the next watering? Should it be sealed in a bottle? How long can I keep using it if I mix up a big "batch"

K-L-N is a root-growth stimulant, not a fertilizer. it may be used as a fertilizer additive at a rate of one or two drops per gallon.

The "Grow" is a very good, general purpose fertilizer. I recommend that you use it at a rate of 1.5 teaspoons per gallon, three out of four waterings, with the 4th being plain water to flush residues from the medium.

The mag-pro is a good way to increase the magnesium supplied to your plants. About once a month, I would use it instead of the Grow at a rate of about 3 teaspoons per gallon. When it runs out, don't replace it, but add about a teaspoon of Epsom Salt per gallon of fertilizer, once a month, instead.

There is no problem storing unused fertilizer, but the K-L-N may deteriorate, so you'll want to add a drop more before the next use (if that's more than about a week or so).
