So a very nice fellow decided to give me this orchid. He works in a greenhouse and apparently grows them. I'm sitting here beside it basking in its scent and yellowish glow and feeling a little guilty that I only gave him some chocolate and tea in exchange for it.
Can someone tell me what these go for. This plant is huge. Its about 3 feet tall and has 3 shoots with about 10 flowers on 2 and 6 more flowers about to bloom.
here are some photos.
Im just curious. I feel bad that maybe the exchange wasn't fair. Thanks everyone!! I love my new orchid!
California and cold weather states raise many easy and will sell these as low as 8-12 dollars. In Florida we are limited to warm growing varsities that are not grown in great quantities and they will range from $20-35
If he is a grower, I am sure he enjoyed the tea and chocolate more than the orchid.
No idea on price but that is one of the most beautiful Orchids I've ever seen!!! Love it...I must add a green flowered lovely to my collection!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks everyone... So I shouldn't feel guilty? I mean I'm in Canada. My most expensive orchid was 50 dollars and this one is like 10 times bigger than it.
That's a lovely healthy looking plant. Here in Canada in early spring, you can get large flowering Cymbidiums for about $21.00 at Walmart for a limited time. Anywhere else they would cost more for that size of plant. At a garden centre likely $50.00.
I am sure the chocolate and tea was much appreciated!
