HELP!! my Phal.please
It is summer here, with rain, rain, rain. My Phals are now outside in a greenhouse, but this one was starting with the dying leaf on the bottom, when it was in the house. I thought it might improve outside, but no, I unpotted it out of the bark and this is what it looks like. I trimmed off some of the dead looking roots, and some are still green on the inside. The other 2 leaves are drooping, but still look good. What should I do?

i am no expert or anything but it looks like it has some root rot to me,probably from over watering it, when was the last time it was repotted? how often are you watering it?

You didn't say what you had it potted in before. It does look like too much water, can you soak in physan20 about 5 minutes and repot in some bark mix?

I repotted about late September, in bark, coconut husk, perlite. When I bought it, it had been in spagnum moss. I water about once a week. The pot stood on pebbles over water. I know it has had too much water, but how do I save it.

Carol, what will the Physan 20 do? I'm a newbie with orchids.

I'd put into a clay pot with bark mix. Let it dry out for a week and then water weekly, roots should start to grow.

In clay orchids stay drier. Physan 20 is a fungicide that might help if you have any fungi with all the overwatering. Good Luck

I use clay pots for everything. It just works well for me and my climate. You'll find what works for yours with a little tweak here and there.
