Default Masdevallia 'Machu Picchu' and 'Ken Dole' questions

I found this beautiful Massie at a local nursey this weekend, but alas - it lost it's ID. The grower and I tried to ID it, and he hesitantly settled on the probability of it being a 'Machu Picchu'. The shape of the flower doesn't seem to be similar - there were quite a few Machu Pichu there for comparison and it just doesn't seem the same to me (size being one thing!).

If laid flat the flower is 8.5" from point to point, the edges curl backwards and the inflorescence is over 12" long. Is it most likely a Machu Picchu?

My second question is about 'Ken Dole' - this little guy has an inflorescence with 2 flowers - is this something that is common? I love the way it looks!

I have a Masdevalia Machu Picchu and it is a more even magenta in color, also not quite as large as you describe.
Your plant is beautiful! I wish my local nursery had such nice masdies, noids or not!

That not like any Machu Picchu I have seen before, at all.

Hi!

Thanks! I saw this flower from across the greenhouse and fell in love. I had a nagging sense that this wasn't a Machu Picchu - so glad to have some agree!

Connie - that is one purdy Massie!! Much closer to what we were comparing this one too (the comparisons were not nearly as pretty though), and this guy is definitely not the same plant.

I wonder what it could be? I'm not too familiar with masdevallias on a whole - how many have flowers this large?

Absolutely not Machu Picchu.

The white one is lovely, I have seen similar but not exactly common either.

I agree the first is not Machu Picchu, though it is lovely.

I have a Ken Dole, and it has bloomed sequentially for me on a single spike but never 2 at once.
