I think the duration of the cold also counts. Here in central Florida we had below freezing for 7 hours, compared to a dip for a hour or two before sunrise.

I would let my orchids take a dip but for the prolonged cold, they come inside. How long does it take an orchid to accurately freeze? How long can it stay frozen before damage?

Very happy to inform that no major damages ocurr around my beautiful babies. Just some bud blasts. Maybe a little early to tell but with the high winds that I had in my back yard I really though that it could do some big damage. Thank God that the ones on the trees are really strong, healthy and well establish and were able to withstand these crazy cold snaps and strong winds.
