Accidentally cut spike on Asian Cymbidium... Female
Default Accidentally cut spike on Asian Cymbidium...

Hello,

I have an Asian Cymbidium that suffered some hard times for about 4 years.

I was just doing some regular maintenance--cutting back the dead leaves, when I noticed that I accidentally cut the tip (< 1 cm) of new stalk (just 2 inches tall) that was hidden behind some dead leaves.

Will the stalk be able to grow? There is only 1 new stalk, and it's very unfortunate that I've gone and cut the FIRST growth that this Cym has experienced.

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Unfortunate but what is done is done. I really cut into my finger once doing the same thing. If it really wants to bloom it will find a way. You'll just have to be patient. If you waited four years a little longer should past quickly. Since it was just starting it should still be able to grow.
