Onc. Shari Baby problem Female
Unhappy Onc. Shari Baby problem

I bought a beautiful, healthy Onc. Shari Baby last year and this year there is something definitely wrong.
There is crinkling at the tip of 2 mature leaves and I have had to trim back or remove 3 yellow leaves.
There is a new lead up and about 1 1/2 inch long.
I have a water guage and water it when it reads yellow so I don't think that it's being over watered. In the summer it was outside on an East-facing porch and now for the winter it's in a West window since Sept.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated. This is my 3rd year growing orchids and I have a big variety of them and 95% bloom each of these years so I can't figure out what this little booger needs.

Got any pics?

Makes things easier to diagnose.

As Philip says, pics are a big help.

Guessing from watching my plant in the last couple of years; the yellow leaves may just be from lighting and environmental changes as it goes from inside to outside and east to west exposure.

If the crinkled leaves are new leaves, I'd suspect not enough humidity. If the p-bulb is also crinkled like an accordion, then I'd definitely say too dry.

Cheers.
Jim

if the yellowing foliage is older it may be natural shedding. If the crinkled foliage is at the top only of some growth the plant was probably under-watered at the time it was growing /developing - it won't un-crinkle. If the new lead looks ok, it's probably getting enough now - but photos definitely help

Sans photo or other info, I'll wager a couple of guesses that could be totally off the mark:

1) Insufficient humidity.

2) Sour medium. Soil moisture meters are not of much value with orchid media because the particles tend to be large and chunky, in order to leave necessary gaps between them for enhanced air flow. If one is working well for you, I suspect the medium is too compact due to decomposition, so may be taking the root system with it.

Ditto. Accordian leaves and shriveled p-bulb's equal underwatering, but older pbulbs can shrivel regardless as it's just their natural cycle. Moving the plant from a west to an east window could have caused some of the problems. I'm curious why you did not move the plant indoors to a west window to give it the same amount of light it was used to though.
