Misting usually does more harm than good, but it doesn't hurt to mist the roots at the surface of the medium when they're getting dry.

As for books, have a look at the books review section in the menu on the left of the page. My personal favorite is "Understanding Orchids: An Uncomplicated Guide to Growing the World's Most Exotic Plants" by William Cullina. I like it because it's a book that you can really grow with, since it has information for beginners and seasoned growers a like. There's a large section on orchid care, then information about 300 or so different orchids.

Spag is sphagnum moss that most Phals are potted in for sale. It holds water sometimes too long for the phals and they usually pack it very tightly around the roots. But, I see from your posts that you have repotted in bark so that is good. Just watch the watering. I think most Phals die because of overwatering. Just my opinion. Good Luck, sounds like you are hooked.
