Hi,
Thanks for your help!

Also, thanks for your compliment on my greenhouse. I guess we're even now concerning "being jealous"....I've been reading your posts in the past and I'm always jealous of your good growing and nice blooms.

Thanks again,
Vicki

Hi,
I hope I'm replying to the correct person because the quote I see says originally posted by carbuncle.

The orchid you saw is Brassavola Nodosa 'Little Stars'. I've got 3 or 4 more, but this one has the most blooms as of now. I had planned to take a group photo for my "re-bloom book" when more buds on the other plants open, but now I'm afraid that the blooms on the plant you see may be fading away by the time the other plants reach their bloom-peak.

When I take the picture, I'll be glad to post it so that you can see the blooms better.

Vicki

Thank you for the compliment, Camille. I'm flattered that you like my greenhouse. I'll be glad to post more photos of the inside as soon as I tidy up a bit (ok, well..MORE than a "bit" ).

Hi Vicki, I'd also love to see abit more of you're greenhouse whenever you have more time -- no rush

As to the spike - I've left mine on a number of times, Still green for months, not much value came from it. 'Cept a bigger brown spike to cut off later on. Oh well we orchid growers to try eh?

Gorgeous yellow blooms

Is the orchid Brassavola nodosa 'Little Stars' or Brassavola Little Stars (nodosa X subulifolia)

(P.s. This is the same person as Carbuncle, I had my name changed!)

My mistake....I'm sorry! My orchid is Brassavola Little Stars, NOT Brassavola nodosa 'Little Stars'. I'm pretty new with orchids and I guessed last night in my post to you instead of reading the tag (I didn't want to go out to the greenhouse, it was/is coooooold down here).

Here's the photo I took this morn. of The Little Stars Family.

Hi Camille and Gloria,
Thanks to both of you for requesting pictures of my greenhouse. Here are some that I took a few days ago. It's nothing special at all...really. Very simple. I'm enjoying it a lot, though. It's almost vacant of blooms, but I'm looking forward to some Phal blooms hopefully not too far into the future, as well as 2 or 3 other types. The spikes are really teaching me patience. I want to update my gallery, but I apparently have the "round- to- it" disease.

My new "almost 3 yr". hobby has been - and is - lots of fun. All of you here on Orchid Board have helped me sooooo much.....thank you.

I would love to see photos from you. Camille, I've enjoyed your gallery...very nice blooms! Gloria, please update me...I know your orchids are gorgeous!

Thanks again for the advice you've given to me in the past!

Vicki

AHAHAHA! I just reread your post Vicki and noticed how you said it was/is cold! But I was just wondering what is your definition of cold? We had -35C with wind chill a couple of days ago!

Cold? Your cold is COOOOOLD!!!! Bigtime! Numbing (would be for me, that is!) How do you manage being outside?? Since we're not used to that here in Alabama, I have serious doubts that we could survive. ?? As for our winter temps, I'm guessing the average daily temp. is approx. 40-45 (today is 45 and sunny, by the way). Many dreary days, which makes my orchids unhappy....they love the sun. There's always wind chill to keep in mind, of course. Nights are generally approx. 25-30, with the occcasional exception of about 12-14, which we experienced a few nights last week and before. It has even dropped into the single digits in the past. I have a bad feeling that our cold weather is just starting....Dec. 21 is the 1st day of winter. SO, NEEDLESS TO SAY, PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY PORTION OF YOUR FRIGID TEMPS. DOWN HERE!! EVER!! I have no intention of moving to Canada...you can keep your minuses!

I hope you're enjoying the nice holiday season....

Vicki
