Phalaenopsis Leaves Growing Like Crazy!

Hi Everyone,

I have had my Phalaenopsis orchid for about 2 and a half years. It always blooms, and grows nicely. Recently I've been wondering if it is normal for it to be continuously sprouting leaves. None of the leaves have died either. It currently has 8 or 9 leaves and is growing more. It also has about 5 new stems (they could be roots I'm not sure).

So, should I trim the leaves? If so how would I do that? It looks a little ridiculous right now, but I don't want to kill it by trimming some of the leaves.

that is normal, it tells you the plant is happy. leave the leaves on

Yes def leave those leaves on.. as long as they look healthy then leave 'em be and you're doing a great job. That is your plant's way of telling you way to go, haha.

It sounds like a happy phalaenopsis. Phals grow continuously not like some other orchids that have a growth period and a rest period.

If your stems look like little mittens on the end, they are flower spikes. The leaf problem has been covered quite well.

Sounds like it's doing well.

Sometimes a Phal will drop old leaves when new ones grow, but if it has the capacity to support more than it has (if it's taking in enough nutriants to support more) then it will add more and keep the old ones.

I have one with 15 leaves which seems to rarely drop leaves. If it wants to grow them then leave them.
