Question Are these roots ok and healthy
Hi,
I just bought this orchid via internet. Do these roots look ok and healthy? Or are the roots suppose to look green all the time. Thank you.

p.s. I usually don't buy via the net, but decided to try it.
Also, should I keep these away from my other orchids I bought from an orchid store? Thank you

Looks good! Everything that is nive and firm = good roots, and it seems to be the case from your pics!

I agree, they look fine.

Were they in an opaque pot? If so and no light could get to them I would expect them to be the colour they are, they only turn green when the light can get to them.

They look like good roots to me. As far as isolating the plant for a while, it's not a bad idea if it's covenient. I don't have enough space to isolate plants so I just take my chances. I've never had a problem so far.

Hi, Thank you for your answer. I bought two cattleya's and they both came in the regular green plastic pot. This one had 2 or 3 white roots on the outside of the plant so I panicked and decided I better report it since it was in the mail for 4 days. So I cleaned the old medium out and rinsed the roots since they looked really dry and then into a pot. I only have a clay pot and am looking for a good place to buy those opaque pots since everyone seems to agree they are the best.

Hi, Thank you for your reply.
I am kind of in the same situation. I have a stand full of phals and dendrobiums and I just got hooked on the cats.
And I also read on one of these boards that it is kind of hard to really see a virus for a long time. Not sure if I understand that, but I am still trying to figure out if white roots are ok and why they aren't green roots like most plants. Wow, now you really know I am a newbie!
