Question cattleya brown spots on cane

Hi,
I'm a newbie here. I just bought my first cattleya's this past summer. One is actually blooming now but my other one isn't and I found some weird spots on the cane part of it. I am posting a picture. I then repotted the spotted one and the medium seemed wet, almost like mud.
The canes (stalks) on the right of the pic are the ones that are brown. The left stalks in the pic are green.
Can someone tell me if this is just waterlogged, or virus or bateria? And how do I fix it. Also, if it is a virus, do I need to get it away from my other cat and other 10 (dens and phal) orchids? Thank you!
Cindy

Your orchid looks normal except it looks like it has a broken cane.

The papery covering on the cane is called a sheath and it is to protect the cane when it is young. When the cane is mature it dries and dies off. If you do not like how it looks now you can peel it off. It will come off of itself over time.
