I am wondering how long ago it was repotted? what are the bottom roots like? If they are not good it is not getting enough water.
I am still pretty new so maybe I am wrong. But, I would check the roots in the bark mixture too.

Aerial roots have a tendency to shrivel up a bit when the humidity isn't high enough. You should have a look at the roots in the pot, the health of those is more important than that of the aerial roots. If you have a pot full of healthy roots, then the others don't matter as much.

I got a phal that had flat aerial roots. I was worried about them and almost cut some off. I soaked the plant at waterings for a few weeks and misted daily and most of those roots have plumped up just fine. Never heard of the sugar water thing, but just soaking should help.

Katie, I would check the roots in the pot as previously mentioned. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the leaves are wrinkled, if so can you post a pic for us?

Yes. Even if the bark isn't rotten, just a good way to see what's happening down in the root region.

Me too I would repot it anyway. And for bark it's always good to try to repot every 2 years or so, before it starts to break down.
