Okay - here goes. (I am about as computer savy as I am garden savy!)
I knew there wasn't enough info - the complete tag reads 461 Dural Show "Maytime" so not much help there.
I do have pics - as I said it was SO GORGEOUS!!! - and will try to attach.
Thanks for the responses.
Regards
Chook
PS No offense taken
PPS No luck uploading photos - help? Tried the manage attachments and would let me 'browse' and add the pics but didn't seem to want to finish uploading. (Told you I was useless!)

The most common reason for pictures failing to upload is that they are too big (unfortunately the software does not tell you the reason).

The link here has tips for posting pictures, and one of the bits you'll find in this info includes a tool to help resize pictures, if you don't already have a way of doing that.

For what it's worth, the following orchid placed 1st in the 2009 Cymbidium Orchid show of South Australia: (no photo)

Cym Dural Ice Maytime.

Perhaps this is the orchid?

hi there chook,

my guess is its a cymbidium, based on the "dural" part of the name, but a pic will help.

If it is, and you are in the sydney area, this is how I have mine -

Outside
Morning sun
Water - in summer every 3 days or so, winter maybe once a week. *important - try to water in the afternoon in summer, it cools the bulbs and will assist with next years flower formation
Feeding - Weakly Weekly. I use half stength miracle grow, something like thrive or aquasol is fine.

Cant help with the red spider mite, have never needed to treat for it.

Hope that helps, and BTW, welcome to OB

Thumbs up Another try at a pic

Thanks for everyone's responses. I live in western NSW, snakecharma, but thanks for the tips.
Here goes another attempt at a pic - I didn't think that maybe original file was too large to upload.
And compressing them worked.
Hope the flowers are enough for classification. My research over the last few days has pointed me in the direction of cymbidium so let me know if I am right.
And again, your input is much appeciated.
