I have one small Ludisia which is growing nicely. I look for the form of the leaves. I think the monopodials or the sympodials where the pseudobulb is not so obvious look very graceful. I especially like the spotted leafed paphs.

i also sometimes happen to buy if the plant looks real great without flowers. seriously, i would still keep it even it refuse to flower just becoz the leaves look great! i have one phal amabilis with large striped leaves and a phal schilleriana or izit stuartiana? with mottled leaves. i esp love the amabilis! i also love plicate leaves, my grammatophyllum specisum leaves and the arundina leaves... the arundina is really graceful... i try to have variety of orchid leaves coz i think 95% of my plants are orchids... i am one weird girl!!!

I have had "blooming size" phal stuartiana and schilleriana for about 18 months now. I put them in S/H and sadly not much is happening. I think my water is too hard and I can't keep them warm enough. The leaves are pretty, tho.
