I went to the Massachusetts Orchid Society's annual show this weekend (awesome), and I bumped into a woman from MOS who told me about a strainer contraption that her engineer husband created for her to help streamline her watering routine.
The strainer straddled the sink and she was able to water a number of orchids at once and could let them drain into the sink.
I'm the opposite of an engineer, but I wanted to try and imitate her hubbie's idea. I spent some time wandering the halls of my big box hardware store today and found a wire shelf in the organizational section that looked to be just the right size. Brought it home and -yup- fit like a glove.
I cut at least 45 minutes out of my watering routine without sacrificing attention or care.
It was actually great fun.
I liked it so much, I'm going back to get a second one for when this one rusts out.
