In need of advice - Orchid Board

i am in need of some advice if anyone would be so kind to chime in and give me some help. This is my quandry i purchase this phal on sale well really cheap lol anyway it's spike was spent and it looked really good. So i took it home unpotted it and it had lots of roots, good leaves so i cut the spike and repotted it in bark (mid oct.) Well i noticed it started to grow another spike and i thought thought huh

so i let it grow. Being overly nosey thought i'd check it's roots, well wish i didn't not very many left i think the change over to bark killed what was on it's way out before i got to it

. So long story short do i keep letting the spike grow thinking maybe it will produce a keiki (cause it thought it was on it's way out) or stop spike. I have never seen this phal in flower and it still has roots (5) and it is in a much smaller container? Advice anyone? The last pics are of what it was when i got it the first pics are of it now after smaller pot and of the spike. Thanks

oh btw there has been no leaf drop i keep all my orchids 50-65% humidity and 77 degrees. Thanks again

I don't alter what a plant wants to do. I would just take good care of it and see what happens. Good luck.

Its up to you, if the roots are shot and you want to save the plant then i would cut the spike and let it rest and regrow roots. However, if it was cheap and you don't mind risking the plant over exhausting itself to see the flowers, then let the spike grown on...

i agree with tucker. if it cant handle a spike, it will stop the spike. just care for it correctly and let it do its thing.

Looks like you're growing them awfully dry.

Thanks for the responses i guess i'll let it keep growing since i cut off the old spike and it had already started this new one. I also noticed that the leaf has grown since i've had it i'll just keep and eye on it. I just watered it that morning ray i guess the small pot dries quick when you have a fan running 24/7 i'll let you know how things turn out thanks all!
