I'll defer to the King and his greater experience.

The soaking tip is a great one. Thanks for keeping the learning going.

It almost looks like an infection of scale. Touch a cotton swab dipped in alchohol to one or two. See if they disolve. Also, what does the underside of the leaf look like? Some insects like the underside and suck the life out of the leaf. Wipe the underside with a damp cotton ball. See if there are specs on the cotton.

Another great tip.

If these tips and others (like the great disease pictures from a few weeks back) were pulled together they would be a great sticky on diagnostics in the pests and diseases section. They're real gems, but they're hard to find digging through the threads sometimes. Just a thought.

Orchid Oedema from being over-watered. The excess water is absorbed by the roots quicker than it is lost by the leaves, which can cause swelling of plant cells and produce a lesion resembling a blister.

Occasionally, misidentified as scale insects because of shape and size. However, scale insects can be easily rubbed off, while oedema blisters can not.

Blisters that are slightly raised without a yellow halo or having a water soaked margin, may indicate the presence of a pathogen.

Make the distinction between biotic (living organism) and abiotic (non-living) causes of the disorder..
