Default Dendrobium - ID and help in growing - New grower

Hi,

I just bought two dendrobiums and I live in Bangalore India.
1. I need help in identifying them (are they softcane or hardcane) pics posted below

2. Is softcane the same as 'Nobile'
and I read online about what I have posted below. Is this true? It scares that I shouldnt be watering from Nov to February...

"NO WATERING should be done from mid November until February
The Nobile type Dendrobiums MUST have a rest from water between these dates if you want to see flowers.

This winter treatment is stopped in February as growth re starts and water should be applied sparingly until good roots are visibly growing from the new shoots, by June watering can given twice weekly and continued until November. "

3. The light brown scaly growth over the canes, is that normal, should they be peeled off?

Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated

Welcome!

Your dendrobiums look like phalaenopis type dendrobiums.

They do not need a dry rest period. Grow them the same all year.

Regular water, let them dry between waterings.
Bright light
Warm temps

Your area should be just right for them.

The brown tissue-like material on the canes is normal. Some growers feel it can harbor insects so they peel it off. Personally I leave mine alone.
