Foot Candle Light Requirements

I finally got new T5 lights for my chids, so now I have to decide how to place them. I have been searching the internet to find out just exactly how the light requirements translate into foot candles, but I haven’t been very successful. I found that shade was 500-1,500 foot candles and bright was 2,500-3,500.

Can anyone give me a range of foot candles for
• bright indirect light
• some direct light
• dappled light
• shaded dappled light

I don't know how to translate those terms but many orchid species guides give foot candle suggestions by species.

I can't tell you the shade equivalents, but I can give you basic genera

Phals- 1,500-2,000 (2,500 depending on your plant )

Catt- 2,500- 3,500

Den- 3,000-4,000

Thanks, that's a start, I got the terms from OrchidWiz. I also have Brs, Onc, Degmra, Cym, Mclna, Mtssa, Mtd, Paph, Pot, Slc, and Z. Just trying to keep everyone happy--and play with my light meter at the same time!
