Default My first orchid show and "tiny" haul

so i went to my first show on sunday! it was great. i even got three blue ribbons on my display. i met a bunch of nice people from an OS in new jersey ( i think ) and learned alot! and i met ray

i came home with three plants. i got

Encyclia tampensis

- i think it needs repotted. what do you think? do you think it is ok to repot now? are they picky?

Bc. kosh wallis 'paradise'

-it just lost its flower today. do you know if they are fragrant? it has little stars as a parent. this one might need repotting, but i think its happy with three new growths and two small sheaths that may OR may not be something interesting. but i love the flowers and cant wait for the three growths to bloom. do you know if they are on the wetter side or the drier side for catts?

masdevallia angel fling

- i was looking for angel tang but j&l didnt have any. but the lady said this one was close and she also said it was warmer. im kind of nervous, this is my first pluero. do they like to be wet?

ill have the pics in a minute and i will post a thread for pics of the show later

Bob what impresses me is not just the beautiful blooms, but the healthy looking orchids I see in your photos. I have yet to go to a Orchid show. Sounds like you had a great time!

The tempensis doesn't like alot of care. High light and not much fertilizer. leave it on the dry side. They also love to be mounted. Glad you had a good time but shows only increase's your collection. LOL

Almost all the plants there were in excellent condition! Only a few from our clubs personal sale tables looed a bit ragged. But most all were lovely looking. Th bc is in aaa++++. Condition! And so is the massy. The the enc i got from another club member. I took it from a weird angle but half the pot has nothing while the other half is filled. I think I'm going to repot. But I'm not sure what I should repott in. I def. Can't mount it, b/c I'm indoors. What do you recomend? Bark? I also need to find a pot that is right in the middle size wise. I can't find one anywhere

Default another orchid buying event

The Maryland orchid society is having their auction soon . Its date has changed to the 13th of November and so has the location. It will be held at the American legion in Halethorpe MD. Dewey Loman Post 109 from 11am to 4pm. The first 1 hr is preview . It'll be a great opportunity to increase the size of your collection even more! Consult the Maryland orchid societies web page for more details. By the way the SOS show was really nice with some great vendors.
