The way the leaves sit on the pseudobulb do look dendrobium-ish. My first reaction was cattleya but...

i doubt its cattleya. it just looks kind of small to be a den, but it could just be a weird angle

It would help to have a perspective on size. The plant and pot look small in the photo. The phal type dendrobiums I'm familiar with have long 12 to 42 inch canes. New growth appears at the base as the older canes mature, so you would normally see a mixture of tall and short lengths. All of these growths appear to be short and near the same height and they all have leaves. Older canes on phal type dendrobiums loose their leaves and shrivel with age. This plant looks uniform in size and growth and this is not typical for a phal type den. even when they're grown under poor conditions. This photo is a good example of typical standard sized phal type dendrobiums.

i agree with you there. its how small it looks and how they are all uniform in size. but they are most likely not catts, thats for sure. the left-most growth has too many leaves and the leaves connect to the cane/p-bulbs doesnt look like a catt either

The statement about the plant not blooming in 4 years struck me too and indicates that this is a mature plant. Perhaps it's some sort of intergeneric hybrid displaying multiple traits from both parents. I wonder what the blooms looked like and how they presented themselves.

possibly. it could also be that it just hasnt had any new aybe it has growths, because maybe it hasnt gotten "optimal" conditions. the left-most growth looks newer than the other though
