You could leave the sink full of water in the kitchen when not in use (You said it was hanging in the kitchen window I assume near the sink??). Spray the leaves when you can and if it's not near the sink, can you leave a pan of water sitting under or near it for evaporation. Of course not with the pot sitting in the water! could you take it to where you bought it and get $$ back or some advice?

Bought it in Tenn when visiting daughter. So can't get any advice or take it back.

I will leave it over the water all day tomorrow and see if it helps it out.

I need to cut of the flower stem. I will sterilize scissors tomorrow and cut it off and wax it. The old one that was cut off when I got it. I will cut this one the same length. I am not worried about it reflowering right now just want to save it from dying.

Thanks Linda

I hope your plant doe better. This is a very informative thread, BTW. Thanks.

Linda, there is another thread about growing vandas in a vase. That also may be something to consider as your RH is low.

Didn't you say that you have fertilzed the vanda once since October? One a week with a good orchid fertilizer is more like it. I water weakly almost evey watering. It may be turning yellow from lack of food.
If you put it in the large clear plastic container with bark as suggested, you may be risking rot. You would need many holes, if you do. They are much better in a basket with some air circulation to dry the roots, but if it is bare root it can be difficult to provide enough humidity. Mine has sphagnum and large lumps of charcol and only needs watering every few days during the summer, depending on how dry the media is, with misting in between. I water about once a week in the winter, Basicly let it just dry out, not bone dry, then give it a good soaking.
