Made a thread a bit ago about my exciting first show, and now I have some pictures to share!
This was the Denver Orchid Society's Fall Orchid Show and Sale, held at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
This plant was not in the show, but for sale- I think from Natt's Orchids. The photo is not even close to showing how VIVID this flower was! Astounding.
I hope my 'Paradise' will look like this someday.
Member's Displays
Some awarded plants- I've included the name and award in the photo.
This was one really happy Paph- if I remember correctly, it had at least three spikes, maybe more, and really put on a spectacular show.
I really want to find this hybrid for sale somewhere, no luck so far. My dear friend Amy loved it, for good reason!
I learned about some species and hybrids I'd never seen, and made a couple friends that live near me- finally! People that understand the orchid bug!
All Wonderful Pictures! Especially like the Paph concolor. Thanks for sharing the experience
I also like the term "Occasional Hermits"
Thank you and Rosie! It really took some creative camera work with my little Canon to get anything that represented what I was seeing, with the lighting being so poor. I was grateful for the displays where people had supplemented lighting. I wish I had had a DSLR.
"Occasional Hermits"....sounds like an AA group for Orchid lovers.
Beautiful photos Izzie, thank you for taking the time to share. As to the "occasional hermit" I think most of us have to be as we are so busy tending to our collections. Glad that you enjoyed your first orchid show and I'm sure you're already looking forward to next years....soon you will find that you will be driving for miles and miles for other shows/meetings/sales/greenhouses! (Speaking from experience!!).
