I just have to jump in here and say (as you all will expect) that this is what Dendrobiums do best - turn yellow and die! Being planted in a coconut is typical of the sillyness associated with trying to get Dendros to grow well. I have had good luck only with desciduous dendros or minis. So don't listen to me
