Talking How to raise humidity

One way to make your orchids happy is to can some venison. Brings the humidity way up. We usually have 50-60% and today it is 85%!!

Well, it was on the hoof. Now part of it is frozen and part of it is canned and part of it is eaten. We get to eat the venison and they get to enjoy the humidity. Seems win/win to me.

When using a pressure canner/cooker steam escapes and raises the humidity in the house. Like running a hot shower for the day.

Another great way is to cook a lot of stews, lol... I had to cook 5 batches of a beef stew for a get together this last weekend, and it raised the humidity as well. Probably not as much as your pressure cooker method though.

One way to increase humidity (without expanding your waistline !!!) can be achieved by standing the orchid pot on an upturned saucer in a shallow tray of water filled with small pebbles or a similar medium. However, avoid allowing the water to come in contact with the bottom of the pot as this will cause root rot.
