New flowers or new leaves?
Default New flowers or new leaves?

Hi. I have never had an orchid reflower and was super excited to see this new growth, but as I have been doing additional research I have found that that this may also be leaves (kiki?). Does anyone have an opinion or will only time tell? I have included 2 pictures. If you notice where the lady bug is in the original picture, it will help you see where the new growth is taking place on the plant.

If it looks like a mitt I would say the start of a new new branch for new blooms.

Other than that you may have to wait a few days to be sure. Either way, Congratulations!

Looks like it could go either way but I will guess it is a branch and may produce some flowers

Thanks for the input. I had 2 plants (in the past) that were given to me as a gift and they were in flower when I received them and although I took great care of them (I had them for 2 years), they never flowered again for me. I moved out of state and gave them back to my uncle (who has a green house and tons of orchids) and he was able to get them to bloom again. When I got to my new place, I got this current orchid and it bloomed in February...so I am SUPER excited to see some movement with this one. It feels like an accomplishment. Of course, moving from Florida to Illinois helped my green thumb all around!! I guess I am meant for cooler weather.

Yeah for you. It looks to me like it is sending out a new branch (spike) and eventually you will have new flowers to enjoy. Wish mine would do this.
