How much light?

Hi orchid lovers)

I love this board, I learn a lot from every post. Currently I have 6 phals and 2 mini ones. It got quite chilly in Slovakia and my orchids have just started to grow new stems.Hurrayyyy I have them on windowsills where there have direct sunlight but I have curtains there, so once they start blooming I plan to put them somewhere where they can show off. It would be somewhere not that close to window but still with access to light. So my question is do they need " very sunny" position when they are blooming?Or can position further from window shorten their blooming phase?

My experience has been that they need plenty of light to come into bloom and for the buds to develop. Once you have flowers you can put them wherever you like. Try to avoid areas that are drafty or have wide temp. changes. Phals can go a very long time without much light. Good luck.
