My Phal, that has endured the attack of Pseudomonas and lost 3 leafs
Then fell from the window sill at least 4 times and lost potting media and flowers, then was water logged for some reason
has now been successfully re-potted.
I would say that there were not too many rotted / dead roots. There were some partially mushy roots near to the crown that I have cut off.
The potting media did not look too bad and it had few very little bugs in it that I think were feeding on that partially mushy roots.
The pot did not offer a good ventilation therefore I made more holes. I used the same pot even if I think a bigger one would have been better but I did not have another one available. I washed it several times and wiped it with disinfectant wipes, good ones that are usually used in surgeries that are effective against many viruses.
I used some Styrofoam on the bottom and in the middle of the pot in between the roots, hope my phal will like that.
The new potting media is medium - fine bark with volcanic rock from Lorbex - the only thing I could find after long searches. While looking to buy media I went into a florist once and the florist told me that under NO circumstances I must attempt to disturb the roots by re-potting as I will definitely KILL the plant !!! I think she should find a different job that she will be better at.
Thank you Bob (help), Incredible Orchids and Izzie for your encouragement! I am relieved to have found that my orchid was in pretty good shape. At first I thought I was going to almost kill this one too )
