Something strange with my phal...
Default Something strange with my phal...

Hi everyone. My phal is doing something really strange. I left a stalk on the plant from its last blooming. Now, near the top of the stalk, leaves are sprouting. Can someone explain this as I have never seen it before. Thanks.

So, should I cut it off and plant it?

Not until it has at least a couple of roots of its own that are over an inch long.

The usual rule of thumb is that you should leave it until it has a total of 3" of root. This could be one root or several smallerones, but 3" total is a good guide for when it should be removed.

It really depends on the parentage. Some are more prone than others.
